John Perkins Workshop this weekend!

MTAS presents JOHN PERKINS Workshop
Sunday 6th Nov. 9.00am—3.30pm.
Yarramundi Community Centre, 54 Thornbill Way, Yarramundi.

GETTING THERE:
From Richmond take Castlereagh Rd. to Agnes Banks turnoff; R into Springwood Rd. Drive 5km along Springwood Rd. to Rivatts Drive and make a R turn at painted turning bay. Turn Left and follow the signs to the Community center.

Brushes:
3 or 4 big Flats, bristle brushes  - Size 12 down to 4 is fine
Some filberts size 4, 6, and 8 also if you like
(Eterna brand or any other more expensive all ok)
Fine liner or rigger, and small sable 2, 4
(Any other brushes you like to use for oils)

Oil Paints:
Ultramarine Blue
Viridian
Burnt Sienna
Titanium White
Cadmium Yellow (John uses mid)
Yellow Ochre
Cadmium Orange
Cadmium Red
Permanent Rose or Alizarin Crimson
Turquoise (cobalt) – this one can be expensive so not essential but good if u have it
Australian Red Gold – optional great colour

Boards:

John suggested to bring a selection of at least 3 boards for the day but we will likely be looking at completing one in the morning and one after lunch – Fredrix, stretched canvas are all fine. If you really want to use a cheap board like a Mont Marte he suggests to give it a coat of Gesso before coming. (John actually puts a coat of Gesso on ALL his boards before painting so he knows what surface he will be getting with not too many surprises, but he said we don’t HAVE to do that)

For the morning John suggested we do a nice Venice scene on something like a 10” x 20” or a board that is a 2:1 ratio (not square essentially)
For the afternoon he said either a 20”x16” or a 16”x12” or something that you feel comfortable working on if you are a bit more experienced.
(He was not sure of the afternoon scene yet possibly a river, or some other landscape – John has lots of reference materials he always brings)

Others:
Turps (odourless is good)
Paper towel or rags
Palette
Easel or French box if you have one (we have tables at the YCC Hall)
Drop sheet protecting the floors
Any other oil painting equipment you like to use :)
